Mr. Jean-Jacques Kiefer
is the Group General Manager of Sunway Lagoon Resort
Hotel, and Managing Director of Allson International
Hotels & Resorts. In his capacity, Kiefer oversees
13 hotels under the Sunway and Allson brand respectively
with hotels in five Asian destinations.
As Group General Manager of the flagship
Sunway Lagoon Resort Hotel, Kiefer is responsible for
the strategic positioning of the five hotel sub-brands
within this development – namely the 441-room
Sunway Lagoon Resort Hotel, the 18-units of luxury accommodation
called The Villas (opening early 2004), 12-units of
townhouses with The Duplex (opening early 2004), the
549-room Pyramid Tower (opening mid 2004) and 148 units
of service residences with Resort Suites (opening early
2005). Sunway Lagoon Resort Hotel is part of an 800-acre
integrated resort development that comprises of the
five hotels, a theme park, hospital, educational facilities
and a shopping mall. Located in a bustling suburb of
Kuala Lumpur, the RM1 billion development is an award-winning
tourism landmark in Malaysia.
His role as Managing Director of Allson
International Hotels & Resorts brings international
expertise in management, acquisition, development, positioning,
and operational strategies. Allson International Hotels
& Resorts presently operates hotels in Jakarta,
Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Vietnam.
It provides management and franchise agreements as well
as hotel marketing affiliation services. Future development
strategies include heightening market and brand presence
in the Asia Pacific rim. As a part of its portfolio,
Allson International Hotels & Resorts is the management
company that operates all Sunway Hotels & Resorts
properties.
Armed with over 25 years of invaluable
experience, the French national joined the management
team of Allson International Hotels & Resorts as
the General Manager of the 441-room Sunway Lagoon Resort
Hotel in 1999. In early 2003, he was appointed as Group
General Manager of the 5-star property to oversee the
expansion programme that is set to increases the hotel’s
room inventory from 441 to 1168 guestrooms by end of
2004. Kiefer was also subsequently appointed as Managing
Director of Allson International Hotels & Resorts.
An experienced international hotelier,
his career began in 1976 at the Hilton International
Abu Dhabi in U.A.E. He held a number of managerial positions
in Food & Beverage with Hilton International in
Germany and France before he was appointed Area Food
& Beverage Director Asia Pacific, based in Tokyo
Bay Hilton in 1987. Kiefer’s regional role was
instrumental and shaped the brand’s food &
beverage positioning. He also held the position of General
Manager of Osaka Hilton, Tokyo Bay Hilton, and was the
General Manager of New Delhi Hilton and Hilton Divisional
Director for India before he moved to Hilton International
Bangkok in 1998 and to Sunway Lagoon Resort Hotel in
1999.
Since joining the Sunway Lagoon Resort
Hotel, numerous events and re-branding exercises have
taken shape to the award-winning Hotel development.
Kiefer believes in the importance of teamwork and training,
as these are the driving-force of his management philosophy.
Under his leadership, the hotel has been awarded numerous
accolades including The Best Employers in Malaysia award,
conducted in partnership with United States-based consulting
firm Hewitt Associates, The Asian Wall Street Journal
and the Far Eastern Economic Review, the prestigious
FIABCI Prix d’ Excellence, and the Tourism Malaysia
Award 2000 for Outstanding Contribution to Tourism:
Private Sector category. In April 2003, the hotel was
awarded the ISO9001: 2000 certification in hospitality
services.
Kiefer is active in a number of industry
and community organizations. Fluent in French, English
and German, he acquired several degrees from private
institutes in France, Switzerland, Canada and Cornell
University in the United States. Kiefer is based in
the Allson International Hotels & Resorts’
corporate office in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. |
